BRASILIA, Feb 4 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Brazil´s Health Ministry on Saturday started off the domestic campaign by the so-called Emergency Operations Center to fight off dengue.

Regulated by the Health Ministry in conjunction with states and municipalities, the new initiative aims to speed up the organization of medical surveillance strategies ahead of the increased dengue cases nationwide.

According to Health Minister Nísia Trindade, the initiative will establish a permanent contact with cities and other ministries.

“Our message is a message of national mobilization at the time. A united Brazil against dengue,” Trindade stressed, while explaining that the Emergency Operation Center has been created whenever the country faces an alert or emergency concern.

“As we are seeing, dengue cases have been reported in different municipalities, especially in the Southeast and Center-West regions. We have been working so hard with a screening room since November, but we consider it important at this time to have a national mobilization”, Trindade detailed.

She also commented on the role that the population itself must exercise with the increased cases.

“It is a public call to the union of the whole country to protect our population,” Trindade added, while recalling that over 75% of the outbreaks are being found at homes.

Brazil has reported 262,247 probable dengue cases since the beginning of 2024, confirming 29 deaths and 173 other cases are being treated and screened.

According to the Government, the first dengue doses will be applied to teens aging 10 and 14 years in cities. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
