Tunisian president meets visiting Algerian FM

Tunisian President Kais Saied (R) meets with visiting Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf in Tunis

TUNIS, Feb 3 (NNN-XINHUA) — Tunisian President Kais Saied received on Friday visiting Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf, the Tunisian presidency said in a statement.

During the meeting, historical ties between Tunisia and Algeria as well as the development of bilateral cooperation and several issues of common interest were discussed.

Saied insisted on his country’s attachment to anchoring the tradition of consultation and solid coordination between the leaders of the two countries.

“It will be necessary to strengthen the complementarity between Tunisia and Algeria and explore new approaches and working tools to satisfy the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples, starting with economic and commercial cooperation until the development of border areas without forgetting the strengthening of trade and investment,” said Saied.

Attaf, for his part, extended a written message from Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Saied which expressed the former’s desire to develop bilateral ties for the benefit of the two countries and all neighboring countries, according to the statement. — NNN-XINHUA
