Cuba and Tanzania to boost cooperation in areas of interest

DAR ES SALAAM (Tanzania), Jan 26 (NNN-ACN) — Cuban VP Salvador Valdes Mesa and his opposite number in Tanzania, Philip Isdor Mpango, reasserted their will to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of common interest such as health, education, agriculture, sports, culture, and tourism.

During the meeting, which Valdés Mesa described as very fruitful, two memorandums of understanding were signed, one between Tanzania’s Sokoine University of Agriculture and Cuba’s University of Artemisa and another between the Tanzanian Regulatory Authority of Medicine and Medical Equipment and its Cuban counterpart CECMED.

The Cuban VP thanked Tanzania for its opposition to both the U.S. blockade and the island’s inclusion on the list of alleged state sponsors of terrorism and assured the African nation that it will always have Cuba’s solidarity.

Valdés Mesa and his delegation also met with health workers deployed in Tanzania and visited the lodgings where Ernesto “Che” Guevara lived in Tanzania.

Valdés Mesa also had a meeting with the head of the Tanzanian Parliament, Tulia Ackson, with whom he discussed various issues related to future cooperation, which he referred to as an important step to strengthen ties with that African nation.

Valdés Mesa expressed to the Tanzanian official his assurance that this visit will contribute significantly to the relations between both countries and parliaments.

On her end, Ackson thanked the Cuban VP for meeting with her to talk about various aspects of bilateral cooperation. — NNN-ACN
