BEIRUT, Lebanon, May 18 (NNN-QNA) – Qatari Minister of State, Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, reiterated here on Friday, Qatar’s commitment to buying Lebanese government bond worth 500 million U.S. dollars, local media reported.
“When Qatar makes a promise, it fulfils it,” Kawari was quoted as saying, by the Lebanese National News Agency.
Kawari’s remarks came, during his meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister, Gebran Bassil, in Beirut.
During the Arab Economic and Social Development Summit, which took place in Lebanon on Jan 20, Qatari Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, revealed that Qatar intends to buy 500 million dollars of Lebanese government bond.
Kawari emphasised Qatar’s keenness to boost its ties with Lebanon on all levels.
During his visit, Kawari also met Lebanese President, Michel Aoun, who thanked Qatar for the country’s support for Lebanese expatriates living there.– NNN-QNA
