LIMA, Jan 24 (NNN-ANDINA) –The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Tuesday expressed its support for Peru’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum’s presidential administration during 2024.

UNDP Resident Representative in the South American country, Bettina Woll, affirmed this position at the meeting held with APEC Peru 2024 officials today.

Likewise, Woll expressed her support for the APEC Citizen Peru 2024 initiative, which is also developed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This is a mechanism that seeks to bring this forum’s scope closer to the population.

During the working meeting, the UNDP representative also highlighted the priorities established by the Peruvian Presidency of APEC.

Woll said these are part of the Sustainable Development Goals outlined by the United Nations towards the year 2030.

The topics on which the APEC meetings to be held in the country this year will revolve include: trade and investment for inclusive growth; innovation that allows informal economic actors to access the formal and global economy; and sustainable growth for development.

The APEC is made up of: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam.

Together, they account for 62% of world’s GDP, 48% of global trade in goods and services, plus 38% of the planet’s population. — NNN-ANDINA
