Mexico warns of alarming figures of violence on the highways

MEXICO CITY, Jan 20 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The National Chamber of Freight Trucking warned that violence on the highways has already exceeded the limits, by registering an upsurge in the theft of trucks transporting goods in Mexico.

The entity unfolded that the figure of 13,000 robberies is among the most alarming recorded in recent years indicating the dimension of such insecurity predicament in this nation.

“We are very worried, very sadly those crimes are suffocating us, now we are very worried because they are disrupting the lives of our operators,” Miguel Angel Martinez, president of the private sector organization told the local press.

According to the official representing the company specialized in providing services to truckers, they work along with the National Guard and the state governments, as these statistics surpass the 2022 reports, estimating that between 50 and 150 truck operators have lost their lives due to a cargo theft.

Meanwhile, the Director of Security Luis Garcia pointed out that the merchandise most coveted by criminal groups are hydrocarbons, chemical products and clothing, which represent 81% of the merchandise. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
