YANGON, Jan 15 (NNN-MNA) – The Myanmar authorities have seized 1.2 million stimulant tablets in Mandalay region, said a release by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), yesterday.
The seized drugs are worth 1.8 billion kyats (about 857,142 U.S. dollars), the release said.
Acting on a tip-off, the combined team searched a vehicle on Jan 7, in Pyin Oo Lwin township, and confiscated the drugs.
A suspect, who conveyed the drugs in the vehicle was charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law. Investigation is underway to reveal related suspects, the CCDAC said.
Similarly, 17.6 kg of heroin was seized on Jan 9, in Chanmyathazi township of Mandalay, the CCDAC said earlier.– NNN-MNA
