HAVANA, Jan 14 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez demanded on Saturday that Washington close the US Naval Base in Guantanamo and return that illegally occupied territory to the Caribbean island.
The head of Cuban diplomacy denounced on his X account the permanence of 30 prisoners in that prison, who were detained arbitrarily, without a trial or a due process, victims of torture and degrading treatment that violate Human Rights.
The Guantanamo naval base covers an area of 117.6 square kilometers of Cuba’s national territory, which was usurped in 1903 against the Cuban people’s will.
The military enclave began operations in December 1903 as a training and preparation site for the US fleet.
Year after year, the Cuban Government has reiterated its rejection of the US military presence in Cuba and demanded that the illegally occupied territory in eastern Guantanamo province be returned. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
