KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 14 (NNN-Bernama) — The 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkiye and Malaysia this year holds more significance than merely a numerical milestone.
Turkish Ambassador to Malaysia Emir Salim Yuksel, emphasised that it stands as a solid reaffirmation of both countries’ dedication to expanding cooperation in various areas.
He highlighted the boundless opportunities for collaboration, encompassing trade, commerce, education, and cultural exchange. The ambassador expressed that this anniversary symbolises the historical depth and richness of Turkey-Malaysia relations.
“As we reflect upon the past six decades and beyond, we find ourselves tracing the footsteps of a remarkable journey marked by shared values, mutual respect, and unwavering friendship.
“In reality, this relationship, steeped in history and brotherhood since the Ottoman era, is a testament to the enduring ties between our nations,” he said in his speech at a Turkish cultural show, here Saturday night.
The ‘Whirling Dervishes of Rumi and Marbling Art Show,’ held to commemorate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Turkiye and Malaysia, featured a talented team from the renowned Metropolitan Municipality of Konya, the birthplace of the Whirling Dervish tradition.
“As we commemorate this significant chapter in our shared history, let us not only celebrate the achievements of the past but also envision the possibilities of the future.
“May the next years of our brotherhood and friendship be marked by even stronger bonds, enhanced cooperation, and shared success,” said Yuksel.
The performance was also held to commemorate the Turkish poet and philosopher Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi’s 750th Anniversary and is rooted in Rumi’s teachings of love, tolerance, and spiritual enlightenment.
