SEOUL, Jan 9 (NNN-YONHAP) – A heavy snow advisory was issued in central South Korea today, with the government’s snow alert upgraded.
The heavy snow watch was given to the metropolitan region, including Seoul, the western port city of Incheon and their surrounding Gyeonggi province, as well as, the eastern Gangwon province, according to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The advisory is issued when the snowfall is expected to reach five cm or more in 24 hours.
The ministry raised its snow alert level from “interest” to “caution,” in a bid to better tackle possible damages.
Up to 10 cm of snow was expected to pile up in the metropolitan region, while the Gangwon province was forecast to see a snow accumulation of up to 15 cm until tomorrow.
Other areas of the country were predicted to be influenced by the snow cloud later in the day.– NNN-YONHAP
