JAKARTA, Jan 9 (NNN-XINHUA) – Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi, yesterday, criticised some countries for applying double standards regarding the Gaza conflict.
Marsudi made the statement in her ministry’s annual speech, at the historic Merdeka Building in Bandung, where in 1955, dozens of countries pledged to reject colonialism and promote world peace.
“The Global North is suddenly silent… witnessing crimes against humanity. Where are all the lectures that they often give, about human rights? Don’t Palestinians have the same rights as the rest of them?” the foreign minister said.
Marsudi referred to 2023/24 as the worst years for Palestinians, citing more than 23,000 fatalities in Gaza, so far, due to the regime’s ongoing air strikes and shelling, 70 percent of whom are children and women, emphasising Indonesia’s constant support for Palestine.– NNN-XINHUA
