Tourism to Cuba grew 34% in 2023

HAVANA, Jan 8 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — International tourism to Cuba increased 34% in 2023 compared to 2022, according to analysis by expert José Luis Perello.

In his Facebook profile, the analyst explained that 2,436,097 international visitors were reported, a figure that represents some 822,892 more visitors than in 2022, with an increase in all markets except for the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

Perello said that 70,9% of international visitors correspond to five main segments: Canadians, Cubans living abroad, Americans, Russians and Spaniards.

Regarding Cubans living abroad, the expert noted that 320,193 come from the United States.

According to the researcher, Cuba as a tourist destination lagged behind its Caribbean competitors in reaching the 2019 arrival figures, considered pre-pandemic.

However, he recalled that those “competitors”, have two important markets, to which Cuba does not have access due to restrictions, prohibitions and policies, U.S. tourists and Cruises, the two most important market segments of Caribbean tourist destinations. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
