NEW DELHI, Jan 5 (NNN-PTI) – India’s regulatory body for drugs, Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), has banned all charges except processing fees, for the procurement of blood, the state-run broadcaster All India Radio said, yesterday.
The move has been undertaken to check the practice of overcharging for blood in hospitals.
The broadcaster said, CDSCO has issued guidelines to the states in this regard, asking them to strictly adhere to the instructions.
Reports said, the decision was taken, based on the principle that “blood is not meant for sale.”– NNN-PTI
