SEOUL, Jan 2 (NNN-YONHAP) – One man was killed and 14 others were injured, today, in South Korea’s apartment building fire.
The blaze broke out at around 7:15 a.m. local time (2215 GMT Monday), on the ninth floor of the 15-story apartment building in Gunpo, about 24 km south of Seoul.
A man in his 50s, residing on the ninth floor was killed, while his wife, also in her 50s, was seriously wounded.
Thirteen others, mostly those in their 60s or older, suffered smoke inhalation and other injuries.
The fire authorities dispatched 47 equipment and over 100 firefighters to the scene, extinguishing the fire about an hour later.
The police and fire authorities were investigating the exact cause of the incident.– NNN-YONHAP
