LIMA, Dec 28 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) forecast that Peruvian exports might reach around US$63 billion at the end of this year.
“We would be at a level close to last year in terms of total exports value, approximately US$63 billion, but opening new markets,” Minister Juan Carlos Mathews said in remarks to Radio Nacional.
Among the countries with which the entry of Peruvian products is being negotiated are Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, and Thailand, in addition to the optimization of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with mainland China. The results would be seen during 2024.
“I leave with a positive taste of progress made. The numbers have continued to grow,” Mathews noted.
Regarding regional exports, the Cabinet member indicated 11 jurisdictions recorded significant growth, while 5 regions might register record figures and exceed those levels previously reached in 2022.
These are Moquegua, Pasco, Apurimac, and Junin (mining shipments), whereas La Libertad made progress on food exports.
Regarding inbound tourism, Minister Mathews affirmed that 2023 will close with a growth (2.5 million visitors) —a figure higher than the 2 million registered in 2022.
Concerning domestic tourism, the figure will increase from 27 million to 37 million trips.
“I predict a quite positive 2024, even better than 2023 with respect to these sectors due to the effect of the economy and due to the effect of sectors themselves,” he pointed out. — NNN-ANDINA
