LIMA, Dec 21 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte said that the Government has allocated a budget of S/4.5 billion (about US$1.2 billion) for the prevention and reduction of risks in the event of an eventual El Niño phenomenon.
She remarked that these actions contemplate comprehensive solutions in prioritized basins, storm drainage to avoid flooding in urban areas, as well as control and prevention of dengue, among other measures.
Boluarte presented an assessment of her administration throughout the year 2023 at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
Likewise, she pointed out that S/795 million (about US$212.4 million) has been allocated for humanitarian aid, whereas S/161 million (about US$43 million) for the purchase of machinery.

Similarly, she stated that this task implies keeping the air, maritime, and land fleet of armed institutes operational.
For this reason, maintenance is being carried out on 11 airplanes, 39 helicopters, 553 land vehicles and mechanical equipment, as well as on three maritime vessels, which will be deployed to respond to emergencies and provide support to the population.

She also explained that, to date, the cleaning of river beds has been carried out on 567 kilometers across Ancash, Ica, La Libertad, Lambayeque, Lima, Piura, and Tumbes, noting that she personally supervised the tasks, as well as the ministers in charge of those regions.
Moreover, the top official reported that the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) is carrying out the construction of 62 bridges in various regions, in order to repair the road infrastructure affected by heavy rains.
