COLOMBO, Dec 17 (NNN-XINHUA) – The Sri Lankan police will launch a special operation starting from today, to curb organised crimes and drug-related activities, Public Security Minister, Tiran Alles said, yesterday.
The minister told the media that, he directed the police to take stringent measures against drug smuggling and organised crimes, after a meeting with senior police officers
He requested the public to actively support the police in their efforts to combat drug-related crimes and other criminal activities.
On Nov 26, the Sri Lankan police, Special Task Force (STF) and army, jointly carried out a pre-dawn raid in the suburbs of Colombo and arrested over 40 people.– NNN-XINHUA
