Wages protest: Employees close hospital in southern Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Dec 14 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Employees closed on Wednesday the Saint-Antoine de Jérémie hospital, the largest of its kind in the Grand Anse Haitian department, in protest for back wages.

Workers left only the maternity ward operational, while they paralyzed other services of the health center.

Rallies were held in front of the Departmental Health Directorate to claim the fees for the last two months, in addition to the extra payment for the end of 2023, according to images circulated on social media.

They encouraged the health authorities to meet their demands before the end of 2023 and warned that they will continue with their movement. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
