Seven Killed In Candle Factory Fire In India’s Maharashtra State

NEW DELHI, Dec 9 (NNN-PTI) – At least seven people were killed and several others injured yesterday, in a devastating fire in India’s western state of Maharashtra, police said.

The fire broke out inside a candle-making factory, late yesterday afternoon, in Pimpri Chinchwad area of Pune district, about 140 km south-east of Mumbai, the capital city of Maharashtra.

The victims, the majority of whom were women, were identified as workers in the factory.

The combustible material inside the factory aggravated the fire, and it took more than an hour for the firefighters to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Chances of fire in Indian factories are usually high, as people often ignore relevant safety standards.– NNN-PTI
