NEW DELHI, Dec 7 (NNN-PTI) – The Asian Development Bank (ADB), has agreed to provide a loan of 175 million U.S. dollars to India, to improve the connectivity and resilience of roads, in the central state of Madhya Pradesh, the Indian government said, yesterday.
The new roads to be built under the project will incorporate climate- and disaster-resilient design, and innovative road safety elements, said a statement from the Ministry of Finance.
The project will enhance connectivity in the state road network across 14 districts, to enable balanced economic development in Madhya Pradesh, the statement said.
This project “will connect rural areas to growth centre and industrial corridors, and establish roads that are better, safer and more climate-resilient,” Country Director for ADB, Takeo Konishi, was quoted as saying.
The project will upgrade about 500 km of state highways and major district roads, to a standard two-lane feature, according to the statement.– NNN-PTI
