ISLAMABAD, Dec 3 (NNN-APP) – Police in Pakistan’s east Punjab province, arrested 14 terrorists, including some high-profile targets, during separate operations, the counter-terrorism department (CTD) of police, said.
The arrests were made when the CTD launched the operations in eight cities of the province, by acting on intelligence reports regarding the presence of the terrorists, the CTD said in a statement released yesterday.
The department launched 588 operations across the country, during which 25,000 people were interrogated, the statement said.
The arrested terrorists included commanders of the banned outfit Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who were shifted to unknown locations for investigation.
Police also seized explosive material, weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades from the custody of the arrested terrorists.
The high-profile targets of TTP were planning attacks on sensitive installations in the provincial capital city of Lahore, the CTD said.– NNN-APP
