ISLAMABAD, Nov 26 (NNN-APP) – A devastating fire engulfed a shopping mall in Karachi, Pakistan’s southern port city, yesterday, leaving at least 11 people dead and over 20 others injured, government officials, said.
Spokesperson of the Sindh government, Murtaza Wahab, said that, 15 to 20 people are still trapped in the multi-storey building, and a search operation continues to rescue them.
He added that, fire tenders, snorkels and a bowser are taking part in the operation to bring the fire under control.
According to police in the area, the fire broke out on the second floor of the building and spread to other floors afterwards, adding that, the police are investigating the cause of the fire.
Following the incident, police and rescue teams reached the area and shifted the injured to nearby hospitals, where, at least six of them are in critical condition.– NNN-APP
