CALLAO, Nov 23 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte affirmed that her Government is prepared to prevent and address the possible damage that the presence of El Niño Phenomenon may cause in Peru.

“We are prepared to be able to respond at the time of prevention, but also during El Niño’s impact, and then afterwards, because we must promptly rebuild what those climate problems damage,” she said during the presentation ceremony of machinery acquired to respond to emergencies to be caused by this phenomenon during the end of 2023 and in 2024.

The Head of State explained that, under the approach of prevention and concern —during the presentation of the fifth administration report by the Executive Branch held yesterday— it was announced that warehouses in northern Peru are full of humanitarian care tools.

“That is why we have invested approximately S/124 million (about US$33.17 million) in the procurement (of machinery) in a promptly and timely manner, without any corruption, which complies with this government guideline, something that we are not going to change,” she indicated.

She reminded citizens that Peru is one of the countries that will be affected by Global Niño, proportionally to previous years.

“That is why we took preventive measures, unlike previous governments that used to wait for the problem to arrive in order to act, but rather we focus, under that preventive approach, on purchasing this machinery for various uses,” she explained.

She announced that the 120 acquired machines will be delivered to the following regions: Piura, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, La Libertad, Ancash, Lima, Huancavelica, Ica, Ayacucho, Arequipa, Tacna, Puno, Cusco, Junin, Pasco, Huanuco, San Martin, and soon Apurimac. — NNN-ANDINA
