Five Elephants Electrocuted In India’s Jharkhand

NEW DELHI, Nov 22 (NNN-PTI) – Five elephants, including three calves, were electrocuted, after they came in contact with a live high-tension electrical wire, in India’s eastern state of Jharkhand, officials said yesterday.

The incident took place on Monday night, in the Musabani forest area of East Singhbhum district, about 174 km south-east of Ranchi, the capital city of Jharkhand.

According to forest department officials, the villagers reported the incident to them yesterday, after spotting the carcasses inside the forest.

Officials said, they have made arrangements for the autopsy of the carcasses.

A case has been registered and an investigation ordered into the incident.– NNN-PTI
