SAN FRANCISCO (US), Nov 19 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peru proposed a visa waiver agreement with Vietnam to boost tourism between both countries and to contribute to the recovery of their economies.

The proposal, presented by Pres Dina Boluarte, was well received by Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong, during a bilateral meeting they held within the framework of the just-concluded Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Summit held in San Francisco, United States

During the conversation, both leaders highlighted that 2024 will mark 30 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and Vietnam.

For this reason, Boluarte invited Van Thuong to visit Peru, especially during the 2024 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week

Moreover, the Head of State expressed interest in Vietnam establishing an Embassy in Lima in order to strengthen bilateral relations and trade.

It should be noted that Peru does have an Embassy in Hanoi —the Vietnamese capital.

Likewise, the dignitary requested Vietnam’s support so that Peru can become a Development Partner of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In addition, she called on Vietnam to back Peru’s candidacy to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). — NNN-ANDINA
