YANGON, Nov 17 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar authorities seized one million stimulant tablets in Shan State, eastern Myanmar, according to a release from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) late yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a vehicle in the state’s Pinlaung Township on Nov 9, and confiscated the drugs.
An investigation reveals that the seized stimulant tablets, with a street value of 500 million kyats (about 238,095 U.S. dollars) were being trafficked from Shan State to Yangon Region.
Persons involved in the case have been charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigation is underway, the committee said.
According to the CCDAC reports, stimulant tablets were seized over the past two consecutive days in Pinlaung Township.– NNN-MNA
