Vision Space Optometrist ‘Eyes’ Slower Myopia Progression In Over 400 Kids, Thanks To Ortho-K

PETALING JAYA, Nov 14 (Bernama) — Vision Space Optometrist, the preferred Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) provider with certified children myopia (shortsightedness) management experts, is looking forward to seeing slower progression in the over 400 Ortho-K kids they are managing.  They cautioned that the prevalence of children experiencing increments of more than 1.00D in myopia a year is growing; and this is cause for concern in children’s eye health.  According to a study published during the pandemic, its 10-year analysis highlighted that from 2010 to 2020 the prevalence of myopia increased 9.75% from 40.90% to 50.65%. The greatest increment was seen from 2019 (pre-COVID) to 2020 (COVID) contributing 1.25% of the total increment. This could be attributed to the increased use of devices due to online learning and gaming, lack of outdoor activities, and other environmental factors.
