CARICOM delegation returns to Haiti to address political crisis

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Nov 13 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — The delegation of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is in Haiti and plans to meet with government, political and civil society representatives regarding the domestic crisis.

This is the third time, in little over two months, that the Group of Eminent Personalities (GEP) of the regional organization travels to this capital to try to mediate in the political negotiations, and seek consensual solutions to the national impasse.

They visited Haiti in August and September, while in June they facilitated the Summit in Kingston, Jamaica, although so far, they did not achieve concrete outcomes, and as months went by, the stances of the opposition and the Government became more radical, as calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry ramped up.

As of Friday through Tuesday, the GEP members will meet with each side separately to hear their views and a joint meeting is planned for a later date between all stakeholders. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
