MINSK (Belarus), Nov 11 (NNN-ACN) — A meeting with Alexandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, kicked off Friday the first day of the official visit of Manuel Marrero, Prime Minister of Cuba, to the European nation.
As reported by the Government of the island, the premier stressed the importance of expanding economic and trade exchanges between the two countries, and proposed to activate a group of mutually beneficial actions that contribute to that goal.
“Marrero thanked for the welcome and said he felt at home for the many expressions of affection received. He also conveyed warm greetings from Army General Raul Castro Ruz and President Miguel Diaz-Canel,” added the Cuban government’s official X account.
Later, the Cuban Prime Minister, along with his counterpart, Roman Golovchenko, headed the delegations of the two countries that held official talks.
In that context, the Belarusian premier highlighted the friendly relations with Cuba and assured that his country is willing to make progress in those ties.
Marrero arrived on Thursday at the International Airport of Minsk to begin an official visit that will last until Nov 12, and is the first he has made to that country in his current position.
After the welcome at the State Protocol Hall, the head of government spoke about his expectations regarding his stay in Belarus, and highlighted the possibilities of extending the collaboration between the two nations in different sectors such as transportation, with the expansion of air connections and tourism.
Marrero arrived in Belarus after having met a working agenda in China, where he held high-level talks and exchanged with local entrepreneurs. — NNN-ACN
