DAR ES SALAAM, Nov 4 (NNN-DAILYNEWS) — Tanzania and Indonesia have been witnessing a remarkable strengthening of their bilateral relations since Tanzania opened its High Commission in Jakarta.
Indonesian Ambassador to Tanzania, Triyogo Jatmiko, revealed this during his country’s 78th Independence Day celebration in Dar es Salaam. The event highlighted the importance of joint efforts with Tanzania for youth empowerment and cultural exchange.
According to the envoy, the deep-rooted friendship between Indonesia and Tanzania extends beyond the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1964 and can be traced back to the historic Asia-Africa Summit in 1955 and the founding of the Non-Aligned Movement in 1961.
“In recent times, we have witnessed a remarkable strengthening of our bilateral relations. We celebrated the opening of the Tanzanian High Commission in Jakarta and welcomed high-level visits from distinguished Tanzanian officials,” said the Ambassador.
He noted that Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s visit to Tanzania in August of this year resulted in numerous significant cooperation agreements, including the revitalization of the Farmers’ Agriculture and Rural Training Centre in Morogoro.
“We have also provided capacity-building grants in crucial sectors such as mining, energy, and agriculture. As we diligently follow up on these agreements, we are now looking forward to welcoming you,” he added.
He went on to say that President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s upcoming visit to Jakarta in December 2023 signifies a promising array of collaborations in the pipeline, offering tangible and sustainable benefits to our two nations.
The upcoming year marks the 60th anniversary of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Tanzania.
The envoy said that Tanzania and Indonesia are blessed with vibrant youth populations, with young people aged 15-34 constituting more than 30 percent of the total population.
“Amid the talk, let us act to empower our youth, shaping tomorrow today. I hope this performance serves as a catalyst, unlocking opportunities for future collaborations and meaningful partnerships between the Tanzania Bora Initiative and all communities at large, including the diplomatic community.
“We are proud to celebrate Indonesian National Day by highlighting our partnership with Tanzania in youth empowerment. Our joint efforts with the Tanzania Bora Initiative underscore the significance of nurturing and empowering our youths to become leaders, change-makers, and key drivers in their communities and beyond,” he said.
On his part, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Samwel Shelukindo, said the well-attended event signified the deep-rooted friendship, cooperation, and shared cultural values, strengthening ties between the two nations dating back to the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1964.
Tanzania Bora Initiative’s founder and Executive Director, Abella Bateyunga, said the partnership between the organization and the Indonesian Embassy in Tanzania has enabled them to perform before 50+ ambassadors and dignitaries, receiving humbling feedback and sparking interest in future collaborations.
“We thank the Indonesian Ambassador for this valuable opportunity.
