LIMA, Nov 2 (NNN-ANDINA) — The production of the mining and hydrocarbons sector increased 8.82% in September 2023, due to the expansion of the metallic mining activity (7.30%) and the hydrocarbon subsector (19.64%).
This information was provided by the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in its technical report Situational Progress of Economic Activity.
With this result, the sector marked eight months of continuous growth.
This performance was mainly based on higher production of molybdenum (40.5%), copper (2.0%), gold (12.9%), zinc (8.6%) and iron (25.2%); meanwhile, silver fell (-0.8%).
The growth of the hydrocarbon subsector was underpinned by the greater volume of exploitation of natural gas (31.7%) and natural gas (33.6%) liquids.
The fishing sector grew 16.92%, due to the greater extraction of species of maritime origin (29.77%) for direct human consumption aimed at canned (154.7%) and frozen (27.2%) products, as well as those for consumption in fresh condition (28.4%).
However, landings aimed at the preparation of cured fish meat experienced a decline (-43.3%).
On the other hand, catches intended for indirect human consumption (anchovy for fishmeal and fish oil) amounted to 436 tons which, compared to the 953 tons reported in September 2022, shows a decrease of 54.24%.
On the other hand, fishing of continental origin decreased 13.70%, due to a decrease in the extraction of species for consumption in fresh, frozen and cured forms. — NNN-ANDINA
