MEXICO CITY, Oct 30 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Mexico on Sunday reported the first case of highly pathogenic AH5 bird flu in a farm in Sonora, the Secretariat of Agriculture confirmed.

In a press release, the Secretariat said that a group of technicians from the General Directorate of Animal Health are presently diagnosing the situation and rolling out anti-epidemic measures to contain the spread.

It also explains that the National Service of Agri-Food Health, Safety and Quality (Senasica) labs are currently carrying out tests to have more data on the pathogen and to verify the vaccine applied in 2022 is effective.

The General Directorate of Animal Health declared a definitive total quarantine for the affected farm and an internal quarantine for the state of Sonora. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
