Peru: President expresses commitment to support fight against drug trafficking

LIMA, Oct 25 (NNN-ANDINA) — Pres Dina Boluarte emphasized that her administration will continue providing support to law enforcement forces so that they keep fighting illicit drug trafficking in Peru.

The president participated in the presentation of 3 tons of cocaine alkaloid seized from a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking in northern Peru. 

The presentation took place at the Military Aviation headquarters in Callao region. The seized drugs amounted to approximately US$91 million.

Within this framework, the Head of State indicated that the aforementioned support will be evident in equipment and logistics.

“The Government’s commitment is the firm fight against this scourge,” Boluarte said.

“We will continue working, giving all our support to the National Police and the Armed Forces in terms of logistics and with everything they need,” she added.

The top official expressed her appreciation to the personnel of the Peruvian National Police (PNP) Anti-Drug Directorate (Dirandro) and the Navy for the results of the action called “Operación Ballena” (Operation Whale) carried out in northern Peruvian waters.

“We have to work in teams. Separated we may be weak, but united, joint strength will make us stronger,” she said.

Boluarte added that, under that prerogative, we will remain firm and forceful in this fight.”

During her speech, President Boluarte also pledged to keep the fight against other criminal practices active, such as informal mining and corruption.

Concerning drug trafficking, she affirmed that “we will continue moving forward, articulating all efforts, including with those brother countries that are committed to a frontal fight against drug trafficking.” — NNN-ANDINA
