LIMA, Oct 24 (NNN-ANDINA) — Peruvian Prime Minister Alberto Otarola confirmed that the deadline for foreigners to regularize their immigration status in Peru will be Friday, Nov 10.

“The deadline will end on November 10. We are in a position to ensure that the extraordinary deadline will end on the date we said it would,” he stated.

At a press conference following a new session of the Council of Ministers, Otarola presented a report on the procedures carried out so far by foreign citizens in order to regularize their immigration status in Peru.

The Cabinet chief explained that, to date, 163,320 applications have been submitted to the immigration regularization program and that 42,000 certificates have been granted.

Likewise, 263,000 foreigners have requested appointments with the National Superintendence of Migrations; however, more than 50,000 did not attend

“We have received about 2,500 requests daily,” he noted.

Last week, Superintendent Armando Garcia reported that after Nov 10, any procedure for foreigners with irregular immigration status will be denied and they will have to face sanctions procedures ranging from mandatory departure to eventual expulsion.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that the 10 Peruvian nationals who were repatriated from Israel on a humanitarian flight arranged by Chile, arrived in Peru —from the neighboring country— on Sunday.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the compatriots left Tel Aviv and landed in Santiago on Friday on a plane flown by the Chilean Air Force.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through our Consulate in Santiago, assisted and managed the transfer of our 10 compatriots repatriated from Tel Aviv, who arrived in Santiago Friday. They landed in our country Sunday afternoon,” the ministry said on social media. — NNN-ANDINA
