NEW DELHI, Oct 22 (NNN-PTI) – Authorities here in India, yesterday, invoked Stage-2 of Graded Response Action Plan measures, which entail hiking parking charges for private vehicles.
The measures, planned by the Commission for Air Quality Management, came into effect from yesterday, amid rising levels of air pollution in the Indian capital city.
The announcement from the air quality panel is aimed at discouraging people from using private vehicles for commuting, and instead, increasing their dependency on public transport, including buses, running on compressed natural gas, and metro trains.
According to air quality monitoring system, overall air pollution in Delhi last night was recorded at 266, in terms of PM2.5, in poor category.– NNN-PTI
