PHNOM PENH, Oct 20 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodia’s foreign ministry said in a press statement yesterday that, China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), has provided numerous benefits to developing countries.
The statement was issued at the end of Cambodian Prime Minister, Hun Manet’s trip to Beijing, for the third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, which was held in conjunction with the 10th BRI anniversary.
The BRI “has provided many developing countries, including Cambodia, with numerous advantages, such as infrastructure development, foreign direct investment, economic growth, regional and global integration, and people-to-people exchanges,” the statement said.
It added that, during the forum, Hun Manet affirmed Cambodia’s full support and readiness to jointly implement the eight major actions outlined during the forum.
The actions included building a multidimensional Belt and Road connectivity network, supporting an open world economy, carrying out practical cooperation, promoting green development, advancing scientific and technological innovation, supporting people-to-people exchanges, promoting integrity-based Belt and Road cooperation, and strengthening the institutional building for international Belt and Road cooperation.
The statement said that, in his remarks to the forum, the Cambodian leader called for increased funding for digital infrastructure in developing economies, including connectivity, data centres, security and other key enablers and platforms, particularly through the BRI.– NNN-AKP
