Brazil donates anti-rabies vaccines to Haiti

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 9 (NNN-Xinhua) — The Brazilian government announced the donation of 7,000 doses of anti-rabies vaccines to Haiti.

According to an official statement published by the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, the donation was made upon request of the Haitian government. The vaccine shipment’s to Haiti’s capital city Port-au-Prince was funded by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO).

“Brazil donated 7,000 doses of human anti-rabies vaccine provided by the Ministry of Health to Haiti yesterday, in response to a request from the Haitian government,” said the statement.

According to the ministry, a similar operation occurred in 2017, when 15,000 doses of the same vaccine were delivered to Haiti, which was seeing surging fatalities amid a rabies outbreak. — NNN-XINHUA
