38 Kg Of Heroin Seized In Central Myanmar

YANGON, Oct 18 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities seized 38.5 kg of heroin, worth over 950 million kyats (about 452,380 U.S. dollars) in the country’s central region of Mandalay, said the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotic police intercepted a vehicle in Thazi township of Mandalay region, on Oct 14, and confiscated the drugs, the CCDAC said.

According to an investigation, the heroin were to be transported to Tatkon township of Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, from Nyaungshwe township of Shan state, it said.

One suspect was arrested for the case, and he was charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, it said.– NNN-MNA
