TOKYO, Oct 17 (NNN-NHK) – Toyota Motor Corp. said today, it has halted 10 production lines at six factories in central Japan, following an explosion at one of its component suppliers.
The accident happened yesterday, at Chuo Spring Co.’s factory, in Aichi prefecture, where vehicle suspension coils are made for a number of Japanese carmakers. One employee was hospitalised, and another was treated for slight injuries, the supplier said today.
Toyota said, it would keep the affected manufacturing lines shut throughout today, and it would decide later on the day, whether it could resume operations tomorrow, it said.
The Japanese automaker has 14 domestic assembly plants, which produce cars for both domestic and overseas markets.– NNN-NHK
