Presidents Maduro and Lula discuss issues of common interest

CARACAS, Oct 17 (NNN-PRENSA LATINA) — Venezuelan and Brazilian Presidents Nicolas Maduro and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva held a phone talk on issues of common interest.

The Bolivarian head of State revealed on X that they had a “pleasant conversation,” in which they addressed important issues of the cooperation map between the countries.

Brazil and Venezuela have a clear path to continue working alongside for the welfare, development and prosperity of our peoples, Maduro said.

Caracas and Brasilia resumed diplomatic relations in January 2023, after being disrrupted for three years during the government of former right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2022).

With Lula’s return to power, both executives advanced in the reestablishment of bilateral relations and agreed to resume a common agenda to analyze and discuss priority issues, official sources reported.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro received on Monday in CARACAS the Mexican Foreign Secretary Alicia Barcena with the purpose of further strengthening bilateral relations between the two nations.

At office “one” of the Miraflores Palace, Maduro welcomed Barcena alongside the first combatant and MP to the National Assembly Cilia Flores; the Deputy Minister for Latin America Rander Peña, and the Ambassador of Caracas in Mexico Francisco Arias.

Barcena arrived in Caracas on Monday morning and as part of her agenda held a meeting with Executive Vice President Delcy Rodriguez.

On her X account, Barcena posted having praised the resumption of the dialogue and negotiation process between the Venezuelan Government and the Unitary Platform in the presence of Mexico, which will take place as from Tuesday in Barbados.

The Norwegian Embassy disclosed on Monday, on social media, that both sides decided to “resume the dialogue and negotiation process” facilitated by that European country.

Those talks will aim at reaching “a political agreement,” as foreseen in the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Mexico City on Aug 13, 2021.

The text underscored that the meetings will begin on October 17, 2023 in Bridgetown, Barbados. — NNN-PRENSA LATINA
