Domestic Demand Drags Down Brunei’s Retail Sales In Q2

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 17 (NNN-ANN) – Brunei’s retail sales recorded a year-on-year decrease of 4.9 percent, in the second quarter of 2023, data released yesterday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, showed.

According to the Department, retail sales declining to 447.3 million Brunei dollars (326.5 million U.S. dollars) in the second quarter was mainly a result of a fall in domestic demand.

Department stores and supermarkets recorded a decrease in sales by 7.2 percent and 0.9 percent, respectively, while mini-marts recorded an increase of 4.9 percent, showed the official data.– NNN-ANN
