BEIJING, Oct 16 (NNN-KBC) — Kenya will prioritise working with like-minded countries to confront shared challenges and push for global prosperity, Pres William Ruto said upon arrival in Beijing, China.
“We are particularly keen on increasing the depth of our relations with China under the New Silk Road to upgrade our infrastructure,” he said.
The President is on a three-day state visit to the nation for the Third Belt and Road Forum for International.
State House said the visit underscores the robust bilateral relations between Kenya and China and highlights Kenya’s active participation in BRI.
The President will deliver a keynote address headlined “Digital Economy as a New Source of Growth,” at the High-Level Forum, highlighting Kenya’s advancements in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and innovation.
Kenya is a key participant in the BRI, with notable signature projects such as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR).
During the visit, President Ruto will also hold bilateral talks with his host President Xi Jinping and other world leaders to discuss matters of mutual benefit and cooperation.
Additionally, the President will participate in a Kenya-China investors roundtable to emphasize Kenya’s standing as an investment hub for Chinese companies, aiming to forge mutually beneficial partnerships for both nations and their peoples.
World leaders are converging in Beijing for talks on cooperation and partnership, emphasising infrastructure development and enhanced connectivity across continents. — NNN-KBC
