Two Dead, Two Injured In Van-Truck Collision In Philippines

MANILA, Oct 15 (NNN-PNA) – Two people were killed, and two others injured, after a van and a ten-wheeler delivery truck, collided yesterday, on a highway in Quezon province, south of Manila, local police said.

Corporal Alexander Taburdan of the Calauag police, said that, the head-on crash happened around 8.00 a.m. local time, while the two vehicles were travelling along a highway in Calauag town, on the main Luzon island.

“The van swerved to the other lane, colliding head-on with the oncoming truck,” Taburdan said, in a telephone interview, speculating the driver might have fallen asleep.

Taburdan said, the driver of the van and one of the two passengers died at the scene, and that the other passenger and the truck driver suffered injuries.

The crash heavily damaged the fronts of the van and the truck, Taburdan added.– NNN-PNA
