HERAT, Afghanistan, Oct 15 (NNN-ANA) – Afghan police have arrested four suspected drug smugglers, along with 12 kg of crystal methamphetamine, in west Afghanistan’s Herat province, provincial police spokesperson, Abdullah Insaf, said yesterday.
The suspects, according to the official, were attempting to sell the contraband to drug addicts in different parts of the country, but police identified them and took them into custody for further investigations.
The Afghan caretaker government has banned poppy cultivation and vowed to crack down on illicit drugs and their trafficking, until the country gets rid of the drug menace.– NNN-ANA
