YANGON, Oct 12 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s foreign trade exceeded 15.98 billion U.S. dollars in value, in the first six months of the 2023-24 fiscal year, through next March, according to figures released by the Ministry of Commerce, yesterday.
The figure was compared to over 16.98 billion dollars registered a year earlier.
From Apr 1 to Sept 29 this year, the country earned over 7.58 billion dollars from exports, while its imports totalled over 8.4 billion dollars, the ministry’s figures showed.
During the period, manufactured goods topped the export list with the most value, earning over 4.83 billion dollars, followed by agricultural products, with a value of 1.57 billion dollars.
The country’s maritime trade totalled over 11.24 billion dollars, while its border trade amounted to 4.73 billion dollars in the cited period.
Myanmar does most of its foreign trade through sea routes, as it has a long coastline. Its major trade partners include China, Thailand, Bangladesh and India.– NNN-MNA
