YANGON, Oct 11 (NNN-MNA) – Myanmar’s authorities have seized 4.18 kg of heroin and 180,000 stimulant tablets, in the central region of Mandalay, according to a statement from the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC), late yesterday.
Acting on a tip-off, anti-narcotics police searched a passenger vehicle in Thabeikkyin Township, in the region, on Oct 5, and confiscated narcotic drugs from two passengers, the statement said.
The seized narcotics are worth approximately over 370 million kyats (about 176,190 U.S. dollars), and the two suspects were arrested in the case, it said.
Investigations showed that the narcotic drugs were being transported to Kachin state, from Shan state, it said.
The suspects were charged under the country’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law, and further investigations were underway, it said.– NNN-MNA
