KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 10 (NNN-BERNAMA) – Malaysia’s unemployment rate stayed at 3.4 percent in Aug, with the number of unemployed declining further to 577,300 people from 579,200 people in July, official data showed, today.
The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), said in a statement that, the labour market in Malaysia remained stable in Aug, with a continuous increase in the number of employed people, while the number of unemployed continued to decline.
According to the DOSM, the number of labour force in Aug improved further, with a 0.1 percent increase, month on month, to 16.93 million.
August’s labour force participation rate stood at 70.1 percent as of July.
The number of employed people in Aug was on an increasing trend, with a month-on-month rise of 0.1 percent to 16.35 million people.
“The country’s labour market position is anticipated to experience moderate growth in the coming months, considering challenges in the economy,” the DOSM said.– NNN-BERNAMA
