JAKARTA, Oct 10 (NNN-Bernama) — Indonesia has issued a travel advisory advising its citizens to postpone their trips to Palestinian and Israeli territories.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement Tuesday, said in the interest of Indonesians’ safety, it is encouraging those with pre-planned trips to postpone their travels.
The ministry strongly encourages all Indonesians currently in both territories to promptly leave the areas for their safety.
The Indonesian government is coordinating with various parties, including its embassies in Amman, Beirut and Cairo, to its evacuate citizens from Palestinian territories.
There are currently 45 Indonesian citizens in the areas, including 10 in Gaza.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, said the current focus is on the humanitarian situation, particularly on efforts to halt the escalation of violence and to prevent further civilian casualties.
“Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi continues to engage with several countries and international organisations to achieve a cessation of violence,” he said.
Recent clashes in Palestine, involving Hamas, the ruling authority in Gaza, and the Israeli regime, have resulted in the loss of hundreds of lives on both sides since Oct 7.
