LIMA, Oct 10 (NNN-ANDINA) — The Executive Branch has declared a state of emergency in the districts of Lima and Lince, in order to preserve the life and health of Peruvians, Prime Minister Alberto Otarola announced.
According to the Cabinet chief, the initiative is also intended to combat procuring and prostitution in both districts and also help combat extortion in that part of the capital city.
“On behalf of the government, I want to announce that, according to what President (Dina) Boluarte stated in Trujillo a few days ago, we have agreed to declare a state of emergency in the district of Lima, but also in the district of Lince,” Otarola announced at the end of the Council of Ministers session.
He said that the respective supreme decree —approved by the Council of Ministers— will be published on Tuesday.
At the press conference held at the Government Palace, he explained that the measure aims to preserve businesses in said districts, since they are ravaged by serious crimes such as extortion, which seriously harms citizens.
Otarola said that the control of domestic order will be in charge of the Peruvian National Police (PNP), which will be supported by members of the Armed Forces, in accordance with the corresponding constitutional restrictions. — NNN-ANDINA
