CANBERRA, Oct 9 (NNN-AAP) – A father and son, who were aboard a light airplane, died, when the plane crashed in South Australia (SA), local media reported, today.
The SA Police, today, confirmed that a 50-year-old pilot died overnight, after being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition, following the crash.
The pilot’s 24-year-old son died at the scene, last night.
The pair were travelling in a Cessna light aircraft, when it struck power lines and crashed into a field near the small town of Crystal Brook, approximately 200 km north of Adelaide, after 4:00 p.m. local time, yesterday.
Investigators from the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB), with expertise in aircraft operations, maintenance and engineering, attended the scene today, to ascertain the cause of the crash.
In a statement issued yesterday, the ATSB asked for witnesses or anyone with video footage of the flying aircraft, to come forward to aid the investigation.
Road closures around the crash site remained in place today, and the public were asked to avoid the area.– NNN-AAP
